Apex Life Sciences has an exciting Direct Hire opportunity for someone with a Waste Water Treatment background.  This is an immediate need with a well-established company that is looking for someone to take their business to the next level!   The ideal candidate must have previous Waste Water Treatment experience.

Laboratory Manager


BS in Chemistry or Environmental Science or 5 Years Lab experience

Role Summary

Ensure compliance of all Responsible Care® Management System, codes and initiatives.  Responsible for the analysis of all incoming waste to determine the treatability methodology to be used for processing the material in a safe and cost effective manner.  Additionally, all outbound material will require the proper analyses and review of outside lab results to determine the quality of material after processing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of the work completed by adhering to the environmental, health & safety policies and procedures and identify any potentially unsafe conditions or procedures to the Operations Manager
  • Ensure proper housekeeping to maintain safe, efficient and clean work areas in the lab and on the docks
  • Keep the SDSs current in the laboratory and oil plant
  • Working with the Fleet Manager, oversee and maintain strict compliance with the 10-day in-transit storage dock and loading/unloading of drums, boxes, totes, etc. in that area
  • Provide testing of incoming material to determine its acceptability under the conditions of our permit
  • Analytical Testing to include ICP and GC
  • Maintain accurate daily records for all generators and waste streams accepted or rejected through the facility
  • Enter all BOLs into the Oil Plant Database
  • Prepare facility paperwork for billing and submit daily
  • Ship water / oil samples to outside lab for analyses
  • Oversight of all sampling, loading, and unloading; utilization of Fall Protection as needed
  • Ensure the proper sampling methodology for the bulk/drum receiving technician
  • Work with the Oil Plant Supervisor on the dock to assure customer needs are met
  • Maintain lab instruments
  • Special Projects or other duties as assigned

Job Scope

Focus of the work is on the quality assurance of all incoming and outgoing waste streams to ensure quality service to all customers.  Reports to Plant Manager.
