Job Description


Technical Specialist I - Production

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Quality Control of local Ink manufacturing.
  • Manage Quality Control for Products and Raw Materials.
  • Receiving QC and Inventory Control.
  • Work with Production for QC.
  • Make SOP for the works.
  • Research & development of new products/ formulations
  • Improvement to present formulations
  • Assisting with customer service; provide support to local manufacturing and sales (QC, color matching, technical service, trouble-shooting, product recommendations)
  • Support & evaluate cost reducing initiatives:  utilize new and more efficient raw materials; use up old inventory in batches; formulate with existing raw materials when possible
  • Selecting, calibrating, installing and maintaining lab equipment
  • Communicate and maintain a record of testing; provide updates to sales as necessary
  • Follow all work site rules for safety, waste, and chemical handling
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work bench and lab work area
  • Maintain equipment of lab in appropriately
  • Provide additional support to the company in various areas relating to meeting customer requirements
  • Other related duties as assigned by management
  • Be trained to fill-in for other divisions as needed

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year R&D lab experience
  • Satisfactory completion of Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Color Hue Test (or similar)
  • Proficient with Windows based software, including databases
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hazardous chemicals
  • Good verbal and written skills for internal and external communication
  • Organized and detail oriented

Valued but not required skills & experience:

  • Four (4)+ years digital ink / inkjet experience
  • Experience formulating digital ink
  • First-hand familiarity with digital ink printing applications
  • Demonstrated color matching skills
  • Knowledge of raw materials used in digital inks

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to work in a lab setting, sitting and standing for the work shift
  • Minimal travel required (0-10%) to customers and/or other locations within the US
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment; this may include steel-toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection
