We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support multiple airborne and ground based sensor programs in McKinney, TX. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed structural analysis to support all phases and components of airborne and ground based FLIRs and radars. The analyses will cover a wide range of difficult problems, requiring solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. The analysis tasks will include evaluating RF or EO/IR hardware designs for static and dynamic strength, fatigue, durability, stiffness, thermo-elastic behavior, and other system and sub-system level performance metrics such as FOV or Line of Sight.  The selected candidate will work under general direction and will be expected to define the scope and level of analysis required to meet required objectives and will be held accountable for completing the work within the agreed upon cost and schedule.  The candidate will be expected to present his or her work for peer reviews and external customer reviews. The selected candidate will work with the customer and engineering leadership to define testing required to validate structural analyses and to verify compliance with requirements. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to plan and support tests, perform data reduction and engage in structural model correlation.

Required Skills:

Understanding of finite element analysis and structural dynamics

Expertise with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities

Desired Skills:

Vibration and dynamics experience

Knowledge of commercial FEA software, such as Abaqus.

Knowledge of commercial CAD software, such as CREO.

Programming skills in tools such as C and Matlab

Structural test experience

Required Education:

BS and MS in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering, coursework in statics, dynamics, finite element analysis from an accredited university

Desired Education:

Master’s level coursework in structural dynamics and finite element analysis
