Description:

  • The Demand Planning function serves as a conduit between Global Supply Planning (GSCP) and Commercial (regional) organization represented by Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A) functions beside the individual countries and markets. 
  • The Demand Planning function will lead the S&OP executive review, prepare all data and metrics for the review, identify gaps and scenarios that must be presented, guide an influence organization for consensus decisions, and prepare escalations for executive review where appropriate.
  • The Demand Planning Function will lead the preparation of the 3-5 yr operational long-range plan (LRP) function for the organization, provide support to Demand planning team in developing and maintain long range planning and forecasting models/capabilities. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

Monthly S&OP process: 

  • Establish and/or, revise key metrics in support of Sales and Operations Planning Department Key Performance Indicators, monitor the development and delivery of these metrics throughout the process. Conducting the necessary analysis and preparing the appropriate reports and presentations 
  • Coordination of demand inputs to the monthly S&OP Step 1-2 meeting (Demand-Supply alignment), analysis of global demand changes and forecast accuracy 
  • Preparing and leading monthly S&OP Step 2 meeting with Supply Planning Team and Logistics 
  • Consolidation and communication of the global demand forecast to the Supply Planning team 
  • Providing demand input for the Step 3 meeting held by Supply Planning 
  • Coordination of demand inputs and preparation of final demand content for Executive S&OP meeting (quarterly Step 4 meeting) with senior management 

Global LRP process: 

  • Coordination of the global demand LRP process – defining timeliness/inputs and communicating to relevant stakeholders 
  • Consolidation of global LRP inputs and assumptions gathered by DP team, and, if needed translating top line input to the detailed plan by country/SKU 
  • Building and maintaining a semi-automated global demand LRP model to facilitate the demand analysis and to facilitate the needs of Supply Planning team for the Supply side of LRP 
  • Partner with BP&A, Affiliates, Partners, International Logistics & Supply Chain, and Investigational Material Supply Chain (IMSC) teams regarding the company’s long-range planning process (annual strategic plan and ongoing 3-5-year planning 
  • Each month, review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, develop statistical operational forecast models, and evaluate operational forecast results 
  • Reconcile variances and refine the operational forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions 
  • Maintain current and historical forecast using Demand Planning software (Demantra/APCC) 
  • Collaborate with Supply Planners to develop inventory strategies for existing items, new products, and product phase-ins and phase-outs 
  • Represent GSCP on regional launch teams as directed 

Key Results: 

  • An Annual Long Range Plan in units, including new product introduction and new indication launches at the unit and market level 
  • A detailed new product introduction schedule with 24-36 month horizon 
  • Develop and build relationships among Global Supply Chain Planning, BP&A, IMSC, and International Logistics & Supply Chain, which will lead to effective knowledge sharing and an optimal forecast to better guide the company 
  • Refined systems and methods to continually improve forecasts so that the company can better anticipate customer needs 
  • Execute with excellence in the area of customer replenishment and feedback to the GSCP group the opportunities and risks regarding customer replenishment performance metrics 

Experience / Specific Job-related Skills 

  • Eight plus (8+) years experience in business planning and demand planning, preferable within the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent command of English language beside other European language(s) 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Excellent collaboration skills 
  • Advance expertise in Excel and Power Point 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and presentation skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the operational forecast process 
  • Extensive acumen in problem solving, managing priorities and a commitment to quality 
  • Self-starter, proactive and flexible 
  • High resistance to stress in a very fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to work at high and detail levels with tight dead-lines 
  • Bachelors or higher degree in Business with specialization in Finance or Supply Chain, or equivalent experience 
  • Proficient in Demand Planning software, Oracle Demantra preferred, and reporting tools such as Business Objects 

Expanded Job Function Demand Planning: 

  • Create statistical operational unit forecasts 
    • Gather, analyze, and validate data 
    • Utilize statistical modeling software (future state) 
    • Review resulting statistical forecast (future state) 
    • Apply error analysis techniques to improve forecasting 
    • Summarize and aggregate statistical forecasts 
  • Review sales plans, finance budget updates, or latest estimates and demand drivers 
    • Present, solicit, and assess feedback on the various forecasts from sales and finance 
    • If applicable, review promotional plans with BP&A 
  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with BP&A 
    • Prepare relevant material to facilitate research and discussion 
  • Provide input to volume planning ( latest estimates/annual process) 
    • Facilitate and manage demand planning/customer meetings 
    • Achieve consensus with the business unit and the demand chain 
  • Maintain demand planning system parameters and data 
    • Enter and modify data and ensure the correctness of product hierarchy 
    • Monitor trends in forecast error 
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to demand planning proces
