Stewardship Technician

Great Falls, MT

Shift: Day Shift

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • As a Stewardship Technician, you will work with the Regulatory Compliance Specialist and Breeder to support the regulated research activities in Montana.
  • The private research trials that you support will be used in the evaluation of specialty canola oil varieties with commercial potential.
  • We are looking for a highly ambitious, innovative, candidate with desire for continuous learning and who are able to quickly adapt to a rapidly evolving and highly motivated research team environment.

Job tasks:

  • You will take responsibility for components of the regulatory compliance program, which includes record keeping, field inspections, data entry, and seed inventory/handling.
  • You will operate and utilize multiple electronic devices from laptops to specialized handheld equipment. You will work with an interdisciplinary team including other research and support teams to organize resources effectively and to meet all business objectives. This includes assistance with field activities such as planting, spraying, harvesting, and other tasks to support field activities. You will also assist the Breeder with various tasks such as note taking (in-field), data entry, and seed/grain handling during planting and harvest seasons.
  • Due to the nature of work in agriculture, work hours will be variable and may include overtime and weekends.
  • Typical work schedule will result in 35-45 hours per week.

This is a term assignment beginning in March 5, 2018, and ending June 31, 2018. Extension possible.

Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma

Other Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated, attentive to detail, organizational skills, ability to travel if needed, valid US driver's license and clean driving record

Additional Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree, experience in agriculture, mechanical aptitude with ability to operate machinery

Dress Code/Required PPE: All PPE needed will be provided. Dress code is casual, significant amount of work will be outdoors, so appropriate clothing is needed (boots/shoes, jeans, jackets, etc.)
