Job Description

Sr. Method Development Chemist

Apex Life Sciences is searching for a Sr. Method Development Chemist for a contract-to-hire role in Mississauga, ON. Our client is a contract testing laboratory that is growing their team. This position is a leadership role with growth opportunities. We are seeking chemists with extensive method development, method validation and method transfer experience for HPLC and GC and ICP-MS.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform Method Development, Method Validation and Method Transfer for HPLC/GC Assay, Related Substances, Residual Solvents, Stability Indicative Methods, Dissolution etc., using Agilent ChemStation/OpenLab software
  • Perform GMP analytical testing for finished pharmaceutical and natural health products on HPLC, GC with Head Space, using Agilent ChemStation/OpenLab software
  • Perform Laboratory OOSs, Deviations, Investigations and CAPAs
  • Perform analysis (Assay, Related Compounds, Residual Solvents, Degradation Products, Dissolution, Wet Chemistry Analysis) of finished products and API
  • Process raw data using ChemStation software
  • Develop and Perform ICP-MS testing methods, using Agilent Mass Hunter software
  • Create protocols, reports, and analytical methods in compliance with applicable SOPs and guidelines.
  • Perform analysis, compilation, and interpretation of results, communicate results to scientist and customers, maintain accurate records of the data.
  • Troubleshooting of analytical equipment: Agilent 1200 and 1100 HPLC, Agilent GC 6890, Agilent 7700 ICP-MS, Agilent UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, FT-IR, Titrations, Dissolution, etc.
  • Provide training and coaching to chemists.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.Sc. in chemistry or related.
  • 8+ years experience in GMP pharmaceutical QC Lab
  • Highly experienced with HPLC and GC with Head Space
  • Excellent knowledge of Agilent ChemStation software
  • Excellent GMP compliance knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work well without supervision. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
