3M Ortho Sr. Lab Analyst/Technician


  • Works with moderate work direction, and can identify issues/problems but may need assistance in resolving.
  • Worker to assume responsibility for initiating and performing defined technical activities leading to new or improve products, processes or technologies on a program basis. Usually reports to a supervisor or senior technical individual.
  • Duties and responsibilities may include initiating and completing technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes which have significant impact potential at a program level.
  • Establish and cultivate a network of support (laboratory, manufacturing, engineering sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments.
  • Participate in project planning, and documents experimental data/observations in technical notebooks (or approved electronic files), prepares reports, and makes oral presentations.
  • May also be required to provide technical supervision/management of other contingent technical workers.
  • Responsible for writing project and experimental plans.
  • Responsible for writing reports and summary results. 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree Chemistry, Engineering, Physics desired.
  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing technologies.
  • Familiarity with handling and accurately preparing mixtures of chemicals, sample testing, some report writing, some mechanical hands-on aptitude (running test equipment), careful attention to safe lab practices, good communication.
  • Aptitude with testing machines of the MTS/Instron variety.
  • Familiarity with chemical techniques such as extractions.
  • Ability to organize and follow through on aging tests.
  • Can show critical thinking skills regarding test methods.
  • Experience writing preparing SOP and test procedures preferred.
