Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Prepare Batches based on Lab Work Orders (LWO) assigned by Director and/or Manager.  Perform varied multi-task formulation, testing and development of products for various clients. Supervision of Lab activities and Chemists when needed.


  • Make daily batches based on LWO assigned by Management.
  • Formulating new products (OTC and Non-OTC).
  • Capable of adjusting batches out of specification production batches.
  • Create and validate product specifications.
  • Superior knowledge of ingredient deck listing and labeling requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping in conformance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) standards.
  • Prepare and document in writing, specifications for various batches.
  • Accurately enter formulas into AREV and Lab Notebooks.
  • Perform stability testing on batches and support stability studies when needed for Stability team.
  • Compile and review technical data.
  • Maintain OTC files.
  • Research new chemicals and technology.
  • Flexible and willing to perform other duties as needed.
  • Oversee batches throughout manufacturing process (monitor Compounding personnel). Make recommendations to improve process.
  • Calibrate Equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as instructed by Director and/or Management staff.
  • Attend meetings and seminars with various sales representatives and vendors.
  • Assist other Lab Personnel with formulations and daily tasks.
  • Supervise R&D Chemists.


  • Bachelors of Science Degree preferably in Chemistry and/or Biochemistry.
  • At least 8 years experience as an R&D Formulation Chemist in the personal care industry.
  • Knowledge in aspects of Compounding, Production, Regulatory, and Quality.
  • Computer Skills.
