Position Title: Sr. Analytical Chemist

Location: Wabash, IN

Hours: 1st shift (6am - 4:30 PM) Monday - Thursday

Summary:

Apex Life Sciences is searching for a Sr. Analytical Chemist for our client in the food and beverage industry. This position is a 1st shift full time Direct Hire opportunity. This position will be one of the primary technical liaisons for client's quality control laboratories that support the manufacturing of GMP dietary Supplements

Responsibilities:

  • Determining the necessary resources (personnel and equipment) for the laboratory to support the manufacturing operation and methods deployed
  • Provide mentoring and training to laboratory personnel on methods, software and instrumentation technology
  • Lead method development and continuous improvement activities for raw materials and finished products for the dietary supplement (DS) industry  
  • Qualify equipment and/or validate test methods for raw materials, components, and finished products for DS (Identity, purity, and impurity type test methods)
  • Support the stability program for finished DS products
  • Support the preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Maintain and continuously improve systems and programs to ensure adequate lab safety measures
  • Maintain compliance with current USP, FCC, AOAC and other compendia/regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate, investigate and approve Out of Specification investigations and provide the technical support for method trouble-shooting
  • Oversee and approve change controls, and updates for lab methods, equipment and/or processes
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Assist in returned goods investigations, product complaint investigations, product recalls, and deviation investigations through analytical testing support if needed
  • Assess and coordinate testing with contract laboratories
  • Lead departmental budgeting activities
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BS degree in analytical chemistry, MS or above in analytical chemistry would be a plus. 
  • Minimum 10 years, prefer 15 or more years of relevant work experience in a QC Laboratory supporting a GMP manufacturing environment such as pharmaceutical, biotech, dietary, food and/or medical device industries developing and validating methods to USP/FDA standards. 
  • HPLC/uPLC instrumentation and method development experience a must.  
  • GCMS, LCMS, ICP experience is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership/mentoring skills. 
  • Experience with Regulatory audits is preferred. 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels. 
  • Excellent computer and documentation skills.
  • Minimal travel required.
