Job Description


Apex Life Sciences is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong
immunology and viral vector biology background to work on the development and
clinical implementation of innovative immune cell therapies.

You will primarily perform viral vector production and purification for pre-clinical
evaluation and process scale-up activities. Duties include management of source
materials, reagents, cell banks, vector development lots, and the production and
analysis of engineered immune cell products under minimal supervision. You will also
be expected to independently design and perform experiments, organize and analyze
results.


 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop analytical methods to study and characterize engineered immune cell products
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, analytical test methods, analytical sampling plans and batch records
  • Write, review and edit accurate technical documents
  • Work with a cross-functional team to advance development of immunotherapy products
  • Execute qualifications in support of lead candidate selection, process development, product release and stability, and product characterization
  • Successfully execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail

VIRAL VECTOR DEVELOPMENT -- QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Cell, Molecular Biology or related life science field is required
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Must have expertise in all aspects of mammalian tissue culture including both adherent and suspension cell lines
  • Must have expertise in all aspects of transient and stable transfection, including the HEK293 platform, stable cell line derivation
  • Experience with retroviral/lentiviral production system is highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience in the HEK293 expression technology using transient or stable platforms is required
  • Proficiency with flow cytometry, cell based bioassays and ELISA or PCR techniques. Techniques in molecular biology, such as RT-PCR is a plus
  • Expertise in downstream viral process including TFF, chromatography, formulation, and finish/fill is preferred
  • Experience in developing assays for vector product release
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Qualified candidates should be detail oriented and have appropriate time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Must be proactive, co-operative, and willing to work in a small team environment
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
