Apex Life Sciences is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer. The incumbent will be responsible for our imaging and analytical products and will be responsible for designing, developing and evaluating hardware for high performance embedded systems. This individual will be responsible for working closely with the Software and Hardware groups to provide the electrical designs. The primary function of this role will be as a hardware designer on complex, digital and mixed signal systems including architecture, hardware design, FPGA design, exploration of technology, system performance and specification to design and test. Candidate will also be responsible for defining system requirements and integration.


  • BS in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university, MS degree is a plus
  • 10+ years of hardware development experience
  • FPGA logic design with Verilog or SV, synthesis and layout
  • Experience in high performance board design and layout
  • Ability to architect hardware platforms and high speed interfaces
  • Experience with DDR4+ and HBM and high performance memory architectures
  • Experience with SoCs and microprocessor peripherals such as Ethernet, USB, PCIe, UARTS, I2C, SPI, Display, RS485
  • Experience with low noise analog design and ADCs
  • Strong comfort level working in a lab environment using digital embedded system debug tools (ICE, logic analyzers, JTAG, Oscilloscopes)

Desirable experience:

  • WAN, LAN, Sockets, TCP/IP communications
  • Working knowledge of bootloaders and getting new hardware platforms to run
  • Knowledge of image sensor data processing a plus
