Job Description


Manufacture or evaluate stable isotope products according to established protocols, provide technical support to others and perform operations in support of the group and department. 


? Safely perform operations to meet quality expectations. 

o Ensure safety and quality throughout the process. 
o Assure you are adequately trained to perform tasks/assignments. 
o Perform multi-disciplined, established synthetic processes, assays and/or unit operations, primarily those requiring a higher level of skill and knowledge involving stable isotope compounds. 
o Clean-up equipment and working areas during and after operations. 
o Complete the volume of work required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlines. 
o Contribute to support functions of the lab (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, waste disposal). 
o Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of supervisor. 
o Provide complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines. 
o Ensure all applicable log books have been filled out completely as required by current procedures. 
o Interact with other departments as needed. 
o Participate as needed in quality audits. 
o Accurately perform procedure independently. 
o Identify problems and limitations of analysis. 
o Perform routine troubleshooting and miscellaneous duties or tasks as necessary. 
o Review of final assays and procedures. 
o Interface with external customers. 
o Ability to serve on committees to improve department, site or company performance. Committees may focus on safety, inventory, output, costs, etc. 

? In compliance with change control procedures, improve processes through application of scientific knowledge, experience, and principles. 

o Identify opportunities for process improvement. 
o Participate in process improvements under the guidance of a Supervisor or Production Scientist. 
o Take the necessary action to resolve any unsafe conditions. 
o Develop improvement ideas, review impact of changes and document all work. 

? Train personnel and act as a technical consultant as needed. Perform and interpret analytical evaluations of products and intermediates. 

o Supply information based on experience and knowledge. 


Education and Experience: 

Biochemistry or Solvent Group: BS in Chemistry or Biochemistry, M.S. preferred with ? 1 year of Independent lab research or industrial experience desired. 
6-12 months of training necessary to learn specifics of job adequately to work independently.
