Facility Info:

Our client is a premier producer of convenience fresh foods, including fresh-cut produce.

Be part of a team that is growing plant of 100K Square feet (500 associates). This plant processes and assembles food ingredients and packaging operations in an SQF Level III certified facility.

This position reports directly to the Quality Manager. Sanitation Supervisor will have 26 associates reporting directly into them (Includes (3) hourly Front Line Coordinators).

Job Summary:

Responsible for the planning, directing, training, and coordination of the production facilities sanitation program. This position requires strong leadership skills and people and process development is critical in this role. The Team Leader must mentor associates, contribute to continuous process improvement and ensure that proper quality, sanitation and safety guidelines are being met

Job Description:

80% Provide Supervision to immediate team of 26 workers

20% Interface with Operations, QA, HR, Safety, Engineering, maintenance etc.

  • Spend 70% of time on floor working with team members(Floor presence a must)
  • Comply, promote, and enforce all safety procedures and policies.
  • Comply, promote, and enforce all GMPs.
  • Comply, promote, and enforce all LO/TO procedures.
  • Monitor associates’ PPE use.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for self and associates. 
  • Report all accidents to the Sanitation Manager immediately.
  • Provided on the job training.
  • Train associates to required skill level.
  • Conflict Resolution skills
  • Evaluate sanitation associates’ skill level.
  • Provided sanitation associates with a daily work load.
  • Assist associates in day-to-day sanitation operations as needed.
  • Monitor associates’ work habits and procedures.
  • Maintain the storage and inventory of chemicals on a daily basis.
  • Maintain daily / weekly sanitation logs and Master Cleaning Schedule.
  • Communicates daily with the Sanitation Manager.
  • Maintain sanitation equipment in good repair.
  • Ensures the overall cleanliness of the entire plant in the allotted time frame.
  • Perform daily ATP swabs and record results.
  • Review QA culture testing for any positive results. 
  • Conduct sanitation pre-operational inspections of equipment and areas.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Must work as a team.
  • Must maintain accountability for self, the department, and plant.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all chemicals used by department. Must know chemical’s name, purpose, and use.
  • Must be cross trained in the various functions of the Quality Assurance department and must be knowledgeable on the QA standard operating procedures
  • Must have knowledge of food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, Sanitation, Pest Control, Safe Quality Food (SQF), and Organic Guidelines

Candidate Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use computer, including Microsoft outlook, excel and word.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to work in a cold refrigerated plant environment (70% of the time in 34 ° F)
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with little to minimum supervision
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Must be self-motivated and independent.
  • Basic Mathematical and analytical skills required as well as problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate up and down the organization

Candidate Nice to Have:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team based fast paced, changing work environment.
  • An understanding of production procedures, safety processes and food safety/quality requirements is desired (FDA compliance).
  • Previous food manufacturing experience
  • Exposure to TPM, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • AIB Certification
  • 7 Steps of Sanitation Certification
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety, quality and production efficiencies.
  • Experience with handling production challenges during plant expansion and construction.
  • Familiarity with HRIS timekeeping systems (ADP)
  • Experience in SQF certified, Food processing plant USDA plant
