I. Summary of Position 
a. Responsible for check-in of client samples and related activities with responsibility for sample management and sample custody, container and equipment preparation. Returns shipping containers and prepares samples for shipment. 

II. Direct Supervisor (Reports to): 
a. Client Services Supervisor/Client Services Manager 

III. Primary Responsibilities: 
a. Processing incoming samples- inspecting samples to ensure they are in good condition, signing appropriate chain-of-custody documents to receive samples, assigning laboratory numbers to all samples and logging information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). 
b. Routing paperwork to appropriate personnel (e.g. Project Managers). 
c.Preparing samples for shipment to internal/external clients. 
d. Placing samples in appropriate storage areas to ensure proper sample preservation, maintaining temperature of storage areas, keeping storage areas organized to allow quick and easy access of samples, controlling access to samples to protect those stored under custody. 
e. Returning shipping containers to sampling teams. 
f. Assisting with sample disposal needs, when applicable. 
g. Promoting cooperation and teamwork among staff. 
h. Following Pace policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
i. Other duties as assigned.

b. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Post high school technical/academic training preferred. 
c. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively. 
d. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
e. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
