Apex Life Sciences is looking for a Research Technician to work within the Lab Animal Resources Department. Our client's Research and Early Development (gRED) is seeking an individual to work in a high throughput vivarium setting at their Dixon, CA campus.


  • The successful candidates will function as part of the Colony Resources team that is responsible for generating, maintenance, management, and breeding rodent models.
  • This includes breeding setups and take downs, weaning, sexing, toe clipping, culling, tissue collections, plug checks, cage changing, health monitoring, animal transfers, and related support functions. 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related discipline and 1 year related experience in research husbandry experience required.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • AALAS Certification, at minimum Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) is a plus
  • Experience in rodent husbandry
  • Attention to details
  • Fine motor skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to successfully work independently and in a team 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must have familiarity with Excel; electronic data capture systems using barcodes, other data-management systems
  • Must be capable of standing, lifting, kneeling, bending, etc., for extended periods of time.
