Position Summary:

The Product Development Research Associate will work in the Process Development department to assist in development efforts within the company to support the design and development of all drug product manufacturing processes. Processes will vary in substance and composition, but will initially be focused on viral vector and nucleic acid based cancer vaccine products.  The Process Development department will receive product candidates from research and is responsible for process conversions and technology integration to allow scale appropriate process transfer to either in-house or outsourced manufacturing.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Work with PD scientists to develop and optimize cell culture and downstream operations
  • Sample management
  • Assist in cell banking
  • Assist in purification development
  • Assist in process technology transfer to manufacturing which includes support in clean rooms, as required
  • Assist in writing technical reports on key development findings


Minimum Education/Experience

  • B.S. / M.S in Biochemistry, Biology or Biochemical Engineering with 2-3 years of experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture is required
  • Experience with purification techniques like chromatography and filtration
  • Experience with immunoassays and gel electrophoresis is preferred
  • Experience in cell banking
  • Experience with technology transfer of processes

  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined and able to function independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work in an evolving environment
  • Good written/verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
