Overview: 

  • Predictive Sciences is a globally-distributed team within the Informatics & Predictive Sciences (IPS) department, involved in collaborative bioinformatics, computational biology, and patient selection research alongside colleagues in the Research & Early Development (R/ED) organization.
  • Applications are encouraged from those looking to use emerging computational approaches to develop innovative and life-changing therapies. 
  • We seek a talented and collaborative data scientist-type to help drive the use of human genetics to identify novel drug targets for inflammatory diseases. 
  • In this role, the successful candidate will work with geneticists on the Predictive Sciences team to build internal databases and tools to utilize public resources. 
  • The candidate will also develop computational pipelines to apply statistical analyses to genetics data and visualize results. 
  • This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on the cutting edge of big-data in human genetics and its application to drug discovery. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Build and maintain databases of human genetics, genomics, and other related data from public and proprietary sources 
  • Develop computational pipelines for statistical analyses of human genetics data (e.g. GWAS, eQTL, Mendelian randomization, PheWAS) 
  • Develop visualization tools that summarize data and enable decision making in early drug discovery efforts 

Background experience & complementary knowledge: 

  • Proficiency in R/Bioconductor, Python, and contemporary, open-source bioinformatics tools and database structures 
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in statistical genetics 
  • A Bachelor’s in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or related field from a recognized higher-education establishment. 
  • 4 years working experience or a Master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, or related discipline 
  • Expertise in algorithmic implementation, statistical programming, and data science
