Our client, a leader in the biotechnology field, is seeking a Research Associate II. 

Duties

As a Research Associate in the Array Development Group, you will play an integral role in developing next generation microarray-based assays for diverse research and applied markets. You will work as part of a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team focused on the enhancement of current, and development of new biochemical assays and workflows.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and characterize assay protocols and automated workflows under direction of supervisor.
  • Recognize potential problems, understand and troubleshoot assays to understand root cause of failures.
  • Design, execute and analyze experiments and report recommendations based on tested experimental results. 
  • Optimize assay conditions to achieve commercial levels of stability, robustness, and performance.
  • Analyze large complex data sets.
  • Keep a laboratory notebook, write reports, and prepare presentations.
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced product development environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong laboratory and instrumentation skills.
  • Familiarity with standard molecular biology/nucleic acid-based protocols, including DNA amplification, labeling, purification, PCR, RT-PCR, hybridization. 
  • Experienced in methods for nucleic acid quantitation and characterization such as qPCR. 
  • Excellent lab notebook and documentation skills.
  • Experienced in analyzing large data sets.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, organized, takes initiative, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Education

  • BS or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics or related field.
  • 2-4 years experience in an academic or industrial laboratory required.

Schedule Details

  •  M-F, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
