Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated cell biologist to help develop and optimize cell-based assays and perform cell-based mechanism of action studies in support of FibroGen’s research programs. For this lab-based position, the successful candidate will have experience in mammalian cell culture in addition to a variety of cell biology techniques.

Duties include:

Culture of mammalian cell lines/primary mammalian cells using aseptic techniques

  • Development and optimization of cell-based assays, both 2D and 3D assays

  • Design and execution of mechanistic studies in cell-based model systems

  • Communication of study results and presentation of data at group meetings


  • BS or MS in cell biology or a related life science

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience; industry experience preferred. (Title D.O.E.)

  • Skilled in mammalian cell culture techniques

  • Experience with 96-well plate assays and multi-channel pipetting

  • Experience designing and implementing cell-based studies using a variety of techniques including ELISA, Western blotting, qPCR, immunocytochemistry and cellular imaging

  • Prior experience with 3D co-culture assays is preferred

  • Precise and meticulous in the execution of scientific experiments

  • Critical thinking and systematic problem solving skills

  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
