Job Description


  • In the role of a Research Assistant, the selected individual will work in the Formulation Department to assist in the development of the drug candidates (mostly large molecules) either as liquid, frozen or lyophilized formulations.
  • This work will help support the formulation development of these drug candidates from initial screening, to clinical evaluation through commercialization.
  • Characterization of the drug candidates in different prototypes using several analytical assays: chromatography (SEC and reverse phase), spectrophotometric (UV, CD, florescence), calorimetric (DSC, ITC), microscopy (polarized, freeze-drying) standard wet chemistry techniques.
  • Evaluate drug product stability and compatibility with different container closure systems.
  • Perform container closure integrity screening for frozen storage.
  • Support fill finish activities by performing in-house stability and compatibility evaluations of the drug product with the fill finish components.
  • Perform work independently under mentorship of a scientist in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment Design experiments, interpret data, and solve problems to advance formulation and product development efforts.
  • Maintain an accurate and detailed record of experiments.
  • Communicate research and actively participate at group meetings.
  • Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices and SOPs


  • Experience with formulation development activities (pH profiling, excipient/formulation prototype screening, compatibility evaluation of drug product with fill-finish processing materials and container closure components, managing stability programs) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem solving skills and maintain laboratory notebooks and records.
  • Capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment and work individually and in a team setting Ability to communicate effectively


  • B.S. or M.S in the Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysical Chemistry or related discipline 0-2 years of relevant lab experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
