Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the company’s quality and food safety programs meet all FDA Food Safety regulations.  The candidate shall have first-hand experience in food manufacturing, food microbiology, and production facility audits.

Overview

Manages food safety for products including: extruded diets, dried seeds, dried fruits, pellets, and canned products.  Develops and codifies food safety plans, supervises plan implementation, and responsible for administering food safety practices.  The Quality Assurance Manager plays a lead role in obtaining and maintaining Premium Nutritional Products third party audit.  Strong knowledge of GMP’s, labeling laws, HACCP, and AIB Certification Requirements.

Primary Functions

  • Develops and implements procedures for monitoring work activities to support sanitation, microbiological monitoring, overall food quality, and food safety objectives.
  • Responsible for development and oversight of the company’s GMP and HACCP plans.
  • Works closely with the Production Team to implement food safety programs, quality, and continuous improvements efforts.
  • Train all production employees on GMP procedures
  • Oversees the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the GMP process including food safety and food quality fundamentals, and updating documents, manuals, procedures, and forms.
  • Communicates to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the GMP process
  • Assist in evaluating suppler selection and performance
  • Responsible for site audits and follow-ups of our third-party manufacturing facilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

Bachelor degree in Science related field or applicable experience demonstrating knowledge in food manufacturing and quality assurance is required

Ability to problem solve, interpret and collect data, establish facts, make recommendations, draw conclusions, and communicate effectively

Experience or knowledge of HACCP, GMP, AIB audits

Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines

Ability to work independently as well as maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of the organization.
