Quality Lab Technician

Personal care company looking for a Quality Lab Technician for our growing team!  For this position you will apply basic chemistry principles to execute quality control testing, learn this industry and product lines, and contribute to the team.  This position will be working Monday - Friday rotating between the day and night shifts (day shift: M-F 8:00 - 5:00 and night shift: M-Th 5:30 pm - 6:00 am). Training for the first few months will be during day shift, then the schedule should be 3 weeks on days, 3 weeks on nights.

Responsible for performance of a variety of analytical tests using wet methods of chemical analysis as well as instrumentation as appropriate (titrations, pH, Gas Chromatography, uv/vis etc.)  Routine and proprietary methods of analysis will be employed and incumbent will assist in the development of new methods of analysis when required.  Incumbent will support the company’s Quality Assurance program. Provide assistance to Marketing and Sales departments as required. Also responsible for participating in the evaluation of company products.


Company operates its business under systems of Quality Management known as ISO-9001:2000 and Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Each employee in the company is required to know their responsibilities under the company ISO and GMP systems.

The Laboratory Technician has the responsibility to take any steps necessary to prevent distribution of products or services of the company which may not conform to the quality standards of the company. It is the Laboratory Technician’s responsibility to document any such occurrence and immediately notify his/her supervisor.


-Conduct quality assurance tests on raw materials, processed raw materials, and manufactured products.

-Maintain documentation related to analytical methods.

-Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks for analytical equipment.

-Quality release of packaging materials; responsible for in-process production quality approval.

-Maintain retained sample inventory of products and raw materials.

-Follow lab safety procedures and general housekeeping to ensure regulatory compliance and good laboratory practices (GLP).

-Maintain lab notebooks, tabulate and organize data, keep records, and generate reports as necessary.

-Maintain inventory and safe storage/handling of laboratory chemicals and supplies.

-Assist with production paperwork review and creation of Certificate of Analysis.

-Perform various analyses to support benefits and claims for products and assist with sales support as necessary.

-Work in conjunction with quality, R&D and formulations/applications associates on the execution of various projects.

-Travel to manufacturing facility in town to assist in laboratory, as  needed.

-Maintain safe work environment in accordance with organization’s safety plan.

-Maintain a hygienic work environment in accordance with organization’s personal hygiene plan.

-Maintain visitor requirements in accordance with organization’s Visitor Safety and Security Guidelines.

-Other duties as assigned.
