Quality Assurance Lab Technician Needed at Iowa Food Company

6 month contract to hire at FAST GROWING company!!! 

2nd Shift: 3:30PM -12AM and OT!! 

Tasks: Will be working in cold room assembly line

Skills: Must be able to calibrate scales and thermometers

Background: Quality experience, Science, Food Industry background is a plus. HACCP knowledge/experience is key.

Job Description:

  • High level of professionalism. 
  • Become familiar and comfortable with HACCP, USDA, FDA, and other regulations.  (Knowledge of Serve Safe guidelines a plus). 
  • Will train/rotate through kitchen, blast chill, and plate & pack. 
  • Follow HACPP plan, serve as role model on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and ensure methods needed to assure food safety and quality are met. 
  • Regularly conduct tests (metal detector, modified atmosphere, ATP testing/swabs, Lysteria testing, water testing, environmental testing, etc.) and do reviews such as the pre-ship review. 
  • Participate in pre-op inspection to release floor to production and post-op inspections.  
  • Accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping of food processes including HACCP forms, weight control, corrective actions, and more. 
  • Ensure packaging film is holding properly. 
  • Use digital thermometer to do temps. 
  • Works as member of a small team and must be able to perform effectively with minimal supervision. 
  • Ensure employees are following GMP guidelines so must be able to speak up respectfully and redirect them when not in compliance. 
  • Must be comfortable using basic math and have good attention to detail. 
  • Occasional lifting (20-40 lbs). 
  • Will work in both cold and warm environments.  
  • No food allergies.
