Apex Life Sciences is looking for a Quality Control Specialist in the Petaluma, CA area!!

QC Specialist

The QC Specialist receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to the Quality Control Supervisor or appointed designate for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. The QC Specialist has the authority to take action necessary to address departures from the quality system or analytical procedures, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.


  1. Establishes and implements procedures to ensure that assigned equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated/standardized, and adequate for the testing performed, and is maintained in good working order.  This includes maintaining equipment operating instructions, manuals, and required logbooks.
  2. Assists the QC supervisor in helping to maintain a good standing in check sample programs and monitoring of internal control samples.  Responds quickly to questions concerning data quality.
  3. Maintains necessary document control including listing of currently used methods with accepted modifications clearly specified and records of method validation skills.
  4. Communicates clearly and concisely to management and staff both orally and in writing.
  5. Assists in the training of staff.
  6. Responsible for correct, on-going implementation of all SOPs that apply to each area of the laboratory. 
  7. Works closely with local management to ensure that clients receive good, accurate service.
  8. Follows all guidelines, SOPs, and procedures of client
  9. Works closely with local management to ensure that laboratory facilities and equipment are well-maintained and safe to use.
  10. Reviews, validates and reports analytical data.
  11. Assists in completion of non-conformance and OOS investigations.
  12. Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements and trends as suggested by the Laboratory Director.
  13. Promotes the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical business practices as related to the public and our customers.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Initial Education Background:

Bachelor’s degree with major in science or related field and 0.5-5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred experience or coursework in laboratory procedures, data analysis, computer operations, mathematics, and technical/business writing.

Experience working in ISO, cGMP and/or GLP environment.
