Job Description


POSITION: QA Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION: 
Inspect all production and warehouse areas for compliance with established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Company Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Manufacturing Record instructions. Examine product and paper work to determine conformance to specifications. Evaluate and extrapolate statistical data.  Perform analytical and organoleptic testing of products.  Maintain and organize samples, documents and data for the products we manufacture or are manufactured for us.  Maintain cultures required for production.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Include the following but other duties may be assigned. The following duties and responsibilities are performed with the assistance and guidance of the QA Manager and/or the QA Specialist.

Perform laboratory testing of samples.

Calibration any lab equipment that will be used while testing samples.

Record test data in appropriate location(s).

Prepare, file and control documents as required.

Notify management if samples are out of spec.

Check production lines to be sure they are operating in compliance with our procedures.

Verify the GMPs are understood and followed by people in the plant.

Send samples to various locations as required.

Conduct routine audits based on SOPs. 

Represent Quality Assurance and communicate requirements and concerns to all personnel in the plant. 

Perform line tests, clearances and cleaning inspections as required.

Keep manufacturing supervisors informed of all activities, audits and quality checks.

Record and report deficiencies.

Assist in investigations and report observations as required.

Perform special projects as are required.

Communicate directly with area supervisors on compliance follow-up.

Subdivide and retain samples from co-manufacturers.

Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.

Follow all safely requirements and report any unsafe actions to production supervisors.

Perform equipment inspections as required.

Perform all other duties as are required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    High School Diploma and a minimum of eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Scientific training is a definite plus.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Have the ability to; read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and Standard Operating Procedures in English.  Have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization and the ability to write routine reports, correspondence and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have the potential to compute and evaluate statistical data.
  • REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Good sanitation, personal hygiene a must.
    • Have the ability to work independently.
    • Must process and use common sense.
    • Able to work well with others.
    • Having knowledge of chemistry principles and microbiology a plus.

SHIFT:

  • Monday - Friday 7:30 to 4:00
