QA Technician - 3rd Shift Opportunity (6:00pm-6:00am Rotating Schedule)

Foley, MN


Enforces, maintains and monitors the quality system to assure Food Safety Policy and proper sanitation procedures are followed. Effectively supervises production operations and interacts with production personnel to communicate and meet customer quality requirements.

Ensures and verifies that all plant departments and employees are adhering to the quality standards and guidelines of the company. Follows written and verbal instructions to monitor and inspect various plant areas, production lines, personnel and equipment, emphasizing GMP’s and proper, first response and clean-up of an injury/illness, and safe sanitation practice. Samples, tests, records and reports basic physical, chemical and biological properties of ingredients, formulations, packaging and other associated material, leading to their acceptance, approval or disposition.


  • Duties - Verifies Sanitation procedures are affective. Coordinates and monitors the pathogen monitoring of the plant. Communicates results and verifies corrective action plans. Coordinate and perform physical, chemical and biological testing and inspection of equipment, product, packaging and materials, leading to efficient reporting. Actively monitor, teach and enforce plant sanitation policies, GMP’s, HACCP and methods for allergen control. Troubleshoot and resolve basic quality/ production issues involving products and materials. Monitors and maintains incident reports. Communicates corrective action results. Prepares, maintains, monitors and tracks plant documentation. Provides involvement and assistance with related R&D, plant tours, customer service and sales/marketing for the company.
  • Safety - Follows all plant safety rules. Reports all incidents/ accidents to supervision. Serves an active role in the plant safety program by attending safety meetings, participating in monthly safety inspections and reporting any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or plant supervision. First responder in the event of an injury/illness – Hepatitis B vaccination required
  • Quality - Promotes, monitors and adheres to all QAS guidelines. Responsible for compliance and upkeep of HACCP program. Prepares quality related materials and information for effective written/ verbal communication with all plant employees.
  • Budget/ Cost Control/ Materials - Works with the QA Manager /Supervisor and production personnel to monitor the departmental efficiency, testing and approval times, yields, scrap loss and other key indicators to actively seek ways to improve productivity. Maintains, budgets and orders basic lab equipment and supplies as needed, emphasizing cost control, usage and necessity.
  • Sanitation/ Housekeeping - Maintains a clean, organized, sanitary work area. Monitors and cooperates with all plant employees in regard to sanitation and housekeeping endeavors. Teaches, instructs and leads plant employees in issues regarding sanitation. Helps develop safe and effective cleaning methods.
  • Communications - Maintains and ensures effective communication with all plant and departmental concerns. Works as a team with other quality, safety and sanitation personnel.
  • Teamwork and Training - Promotes and contributes to the development of teamwork between quality and production employees. Assists in training and coaching all employees about quality, technical and sanitation issues.
  • Administration - Accurately prepares and maintains all departmental forms and documents. Monitors the completion of paperwork by other departments, emphasizing optimum record keeping within all plant areas.

a)             Minimum two years of college coursework in a scientific/ engineering discipline or equivalent laboratory work experience.

b)            Basic math, biology, and chemistry knowledge is required while demonstrating strong troubleshooting and problem – solving skills.

c)             Must be able to lift 35 pounds occasionally.


a)             Experience with quality control in a fast-paced manufacturing environment highly desirable. Food industry background preferred.
