QA Lab Technician Needed in the Harrisburg Area!

**Candidate must be local to the area.**

Summary

To ensure the quality of products produced and packaged meet the required quality specifications.  Inspect and swab machinery after allergen cleanings. Receive bulk ingredients. The QA Technician is a self-sufficient position and requires only limited guidance from the QA Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures products are produced to quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Has proficient knowledge of equipment, and set standards used for testing ingredients, products, and packaging.
  • Communicates suggestions for corrective actions for operational, equipment or productivity concerns to the Lead Persons or Supervisors.
  • Is able to read and understand BOM (Bills of Material). Checks information to assure all customer specifications are being adhered to.
  • Evaluates product attributes during cooking & packaging for color, flavor, and package appearance per customer specification
  • Ensures correct oxygen levels in packages.
  • Performs moisture analysis to ensure levels meet customer specifications
  • Cleans and inspects magnets and screens for foreign material from sugars and chocolate areas.
  • Inspects all machinery per SSOP’s after allergen cleans.
  • Is responsible for CCP sign off of the HACCP Plan that apply-allergen cleanings; metal detection; package labeling & receiving COA’s.
  • Inspects incoming ingredients and packaging material per incoming receiving SOP’s.
  • Tests water for proper chlorine levels.
  • Receives incoming bulk liquid chocolate loads, sugar, and corn syrup.  Ensures flavor, color and COA’s are acceptable.
  • Reviews all incoming ingredients for proper identification and lot numbers, and ensures COA’s are acceptable compared to specification sheets.
  • Packages quality samples with proper labels for customers/sales samples.
  • Collects water samples for micro testing.
  • Collects product/ingredient samples for micro testing.
  • Swabs machinery for micro testing.
  • Conducts Month/Year end inventory of lab ingredients.
  • Understands and complies with GMP’s in product, work area and personal compliance.
  • Understands and complies with HACCP.

Education and/or Experience – No prior experiences or training required.  Aptitude with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook and Access.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection, which is mandatory.
