Job Description

Apex Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist for the QA department at an established personal care company!


  • Responsible for testing OTC actives in bulk, finished products, Stability samples, chemical evaluation of raw materials, annual confirmation of OTC Raw Material actives and to document all test records to ensure that they meet the Quality Control Specifications, and regulatory agency requirements.


  • Perform variety of analytical methods using HPLC, GC, ICP, FTIR, UV/Vis, and variety of wet chemistries following USP or customer specified methods.
  • Perform method validation following established test methods. Participate in method validation and method transfer as needed.
  • Perform calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipments as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Conduct laboratory work and associated record keeping in a safe manner and in keeping with generally recognized GLP, GMP and company & customer’s SOP.
  • Follow internal and customer specification.
  • Write OOS report and Investigate problems presented in test results.
  • Responsible for maintenance and trouble shooting of analytical instrument and clearly communicating the problems with lab manager.


  • Bachelor of Science / Art, Chemistry or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Quality Control preferably in analytical field.
  • Full knowledge of working with and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • If needed, must be able to work until a project completed.
  • Must have good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to follow SOP and test methods.
  • Must be able to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. Maintain housekeeping in conformance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) standards.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skill.
  • Must be strong in Excel and Word.
