Apex Life Sciences has immediate openings for Engineering Project Managers near Carlisle, PA. 

Overview: Manage the design and construction of new and modify existing facilities on safe, timely and economical basis to support the needs of all site functions.  Coordinate and supervise outside architects, engineers, and construction contractors.  Provide interior design consultation and project management services to R&D Facilities Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct project management services on facilities projects for new and/or renovations, including design, construction and contract administration and assume responsibility for project execution, including coordination of technical and financial resources toward achievement of stated goals.
  • Assume responsibility for the timely and efficient completion of work within established guidelines of quality, cost and schedule.
  • Provide planning, scheduling and estimating services required for projects being implemented, as well as for those being conceptualized or proposed.
  • Advise management regarding current status, highlights, trends and potential problems on assigned projects.
  • Supervise the development of designs, interior space plans,  specifications, calculations, requisitions, drawings, bills of material, schedules and cost estimates on assigned projects.
  • Review project construction bid packages, develop bidder's lists (in consultation with purchasing function) and to prepare bid documents, awards construction contracts based upon negotiated terms and conditions.
  • Prepare specifications, requests for quote, purchase orders and change orders for equipment and service contracts.
  • Coordinate contacts with local authorities regarding project related permits and inspections.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor activities to assure timely deliveries, proper installations and technical performance.
  • Insure that projects are designed and constructed in accordance with current regulations governing safety, environmental protection, energy conservation, the American Disability Act (ADA) and other statutory considerations.
  • Keep informed of current developments in the field of engineering and remain active in professional activities and organizations.
  • Maintain contact with all levels of plant, department, and divisional management in the performance of assigned engineering duties.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years pharmaceutical or related experience.
  • Very competent project management and technical skills and the ability to plan and communicate effectively with associates, staff and management.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to act effectively with moderate independence.
  • Ability to direct the work of outside A/E, consultants, vendors and contractors, and manage projects to $10.0mm value.

  • Manage multi-discipline projects, insuring that R&D facilities remain state-of-the-art facilities complying with FD, AAALAC and other regulatory agency guidelines.

  • Expedite material and services to meet schedules and client demands
  • Coordinate facilities and utilities shutdowns with minimum interruption to operations.
