APEX LIFE SCIENCES is looking for a Procurement Specialist for an Entry Level position in Canton, OH!!!

Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist ensures corporate policies and procedures are adhered to in all transactions which involve commitment of TestAmerica assets and funds. Ensures timely delivery of equipment, supplies and services required by the laboratories and other facilities, and that company funds are utilized resourcefully. Excellent customer service and telephone/e-mail etiquette are essential skills for this position. Strong problem solving skills are also necessary to audit, track, and confirm all issues relating to requisitions and purchase orders. Responsible for the administration of national agreements as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluates requirements of supply orders, Capital Expenditure, and/or Controlled Purchase Requests and ensures quality goods and services are purchased in a timely manner at a competitive cost.

  • Generates and transmits purchase orders once requisitions have been entered and approved by the lab/facility. Audits purchase orders to correct errors or update information, informs end user of the change and adjusts purchase order. Confirms orders are received by the supplier.

  • Communicates with laboratory/facility personnel and vendors to provide information regarding purchase orders including shortages, pricing errors, shipment delays, and discontinued products. Answers questions and resolves procurement issues.

  • Assists laboratory/facility personnel with procurement issues such as sourcing, service options, JD Edwards problems, etc.

  • Sends vendor information packets to new vendors and enters them into the system once the information is received.

  • Audits account codes to ensure proper billing.

  • Helps administer national agreements and responds to questions to ensure both the vendor and TestAmerica adhere to agreements.

  • Obtains competitive quotations from prospective vendors for supply orders and/or Capital Expenditure and Controlled Purchase Requests and negotiates pricing.

Secondary Duties:

  • Obtains and submits information pertaining to purchasing history as requested by the Purchasing Manager.

  • Meets with vendors to negotiate improved pricing, product quality, and delivery.

  • Negotiates regional and/or national agreements on behalf of TestAmerica.

  • Reviews, evaluates, and approves specifications for issuing and awarding bids to suppliers through RFP process.

  • Performs cost and value analysis in cooperation with other departments or for the organization as a whole.

  • Provides detailed cost savings and cost comparison reports as required.

  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

  • Assists in other areas as needed or assigned.

  • Laboratory/facility Personnel and Laboratory/Facility Directors to obtain necessary information for supply orders and/or Capital Expenditure and Controlled Purchase Requests

  • DFOs, VPOs and Senior Leadership Team for Capital Expenditure or Controlled Purchase completion and/or special projects as assigned

  • Accounts Payable for vendor set-up and payment issues

  • Other members of the Finance Group
