Process Engineer

Position Summary

Documents and specifies routine, regular procedures and work instructions for manufacturing processes and the use of equipment. Performs Root Cause Analysis and initiates corrective actions. Ensures corrective actions are communicated to the production personnel through work instructions or procedure updates and coordinates training requirements for same. Acts as a liaison to coordinate activities with Engineering, Maintenance, and Manufacturing Departments to implement operational improvements.Responsible for various engineering assignments ranging from feasibility studies to the introduction of designs and drawings to Manufacturing.

Position Responsibilities

  • Identify, initially evaluate and champion safety, quality and process improvement ideas as a method of continuous improvement. 
  • Assists in technical troubleshooting and problem solving sometimes at a hands-on level. 
  • Documents regular procedures, sequence of operations, and work instructions, analyzing them for improvement opportunities. 
  • Documents and analyzes SPC (statistical process control) data for all work processes to ensure level of error does not exceed industry standards or defined KPI limits.
  • Performs periodic process audits to ensure adherence to quality standards. Follows up on corrective action involving repair or enhancement of machinery. 
  • Participate in the design, modification, adaptation, and installation of process equipment and facilities.
  • Provide technical assistance on problems relating to product quality and production processes.
  • Interact with outside resources such as contractors and equipment vendors.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Team activities.
  • Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform position tasks and meet position responsibilities.
  • Know and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Keep supervisor informed of all matters related to position responsibilities.
  • Create a safe and healthy working environment by working safely, using equipment provided and following instructions given for health and safety purposes and immediately reporting any unsafe working practices or hazardous working conditions.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 2 years of related experience.  The ability to work in a chemical manufacturing facility is critical.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable software (i.e., Excel, Word, SPC, etc.) required.
  • Must possess good communication skills, both written and oral, sound business judgment, strong interpersonal and technical skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to effectively deal with customers (internal and external), distributors and to work well with people at all levels of the company especially those on the production floor and maintenance.
