Job Description


Our client, a leader in next generation sequencing, is seeking a Process Engineer II.

Duties:

As a Process Engineer II in Consumables Product Development you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment to develop sequencing consumables in support of product development programs. You will help to design and develop robust, scalable manufacturing processes for consumables used in cutting-edge genomics research and for clinical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Become proficient in consumables fabrication processes (e.g. CVD, spin coat, CMP, wafer bonding); use these processes in the prototyping and piloting of new products.
  • Collaborate with teammates from Engineering, Research, Quality and Production to develop new manufacturing processes for consumables products used in next-generation sequencing platforms (such as flow cells and microarrays)
  • Define technical requirements for consumable products
  • Construct and execute controlled experiments to optimize processes to achieve commercial levels of stability, robustness, and performance
  • Use systematic problem-solving methods to troubleshoot complex issues related to product quality, stability and robustness. Use project management tools to meet team goals.
  • Provide assistance with equipment selection and workstation design to meet product quality, throughput and cost requirements.
  • Conduct clear and concise communication with colleagues and managers through oral updates and written reports.

Skills:

  • BS/MS degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience, or PhD with 0 years of experience 
  • Experience with statistics, Statistical Process Control and DOE techniques 
  • Previous wafer bonding or clean-room fabrication equipment experience desirable.
  • Data analysis, experimental design and critical thinking skills
  • High level problem solving and reasoning skills required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team required.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, hard-working, positive individual who desires to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic development environment.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, with a demonstrated ability to implement complex protocols.

Education:

  • BS or higher in Materials Science, Nanoengineering, Physics or related degree
