JOB PURPOSE:

Ensures that cleaning standards are consistently met on bulk manufacturing and filling operations in accordance with Mary Kay guidelines.  Supports production operation goals by leading projects to reduce costs associated with cleaning activities.  Shares ownership in achieving world class performance and continuous improvement of production.  This role is accountable for helping to achieve strategies and goals of becoming the world class, low cost/high quality producer of choice.  Applies technical knowledge globally in collaborative response to microbial contamination issues, nonconforming cleaning activities, and root cause analysis

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Core duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leads projects to increase cleaning efficiency while reducing chemical and labor costs.   Applies to CIP and manually cleaned systems.  Projects may involve both chemical and mechanical solutions.  Creates a business case for each project.  The business case must consider the impact of the solution both upstream and downstream of the affected area.  Develops method to track results against expectations and makes modifications as needed to stay on target.  Reviews all financial gains with the Supply Chain Financial Analysist. 

Aids Operations in the development of cleaning work instructions.  Collaborates with customers to ensure they are easy to understand and repeatable.

Optimizes existing cleaning recipes.  Coordinates with Operations and Planning to ensure priorities meet the greatest business need.

Investigates new chemicals to improve cleaning effectiveness.  Obtains appropriate SDS information from vendors, inputs SDS into current MK business system, and follows established change control procedures prior to testing.

Develops and gives training to Operations personnel.

Creates and gives Power Point presentations to key stakeholders.

2. Works with Product Development and Commercialization to establish cleaning protocols and recipes during the new product launch process.  Creates design of experiment to test solutions. Identifies risk and elevates during the DFM process.  Involves key stakeholders to ensure solutions are industrially feasible.

3. Works with the Quality Validation team to establish cleaning procedures for OTC products in bulk production and filling operations.  Assists with execution of the protocols.

4. Monitors systematic trends and identifies at risk areas/activities.  Involves pulling data from automated equipment systems, customer feedback, CAPA software, and microbiological bulk/finished results.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or another related field.  

Experience: 3+ years of experience working in manufacturing hygiene role. Cosmetics experience is preferred.

5.            Has the ability to prioritize work and handle multiple/varied tasks effectively.

6.            Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, document managements systems, etc.)

7.            Experienced with Root Cause Analysis, ability to troubleshoot out-of-specification results, and perform OOS investigations.

8.            Ability to work independently and possesses leadership qualities.

9.            Detail-orientated with a demonstrated proactive and analytical approach to problem solving.

10.          Knowledge of GMPs.

11.          Has a sense of urgency in daily work and resolving issues.

12.          Excels at interpersonal communication and is able to form effective relationships across departments.
