Job purpose

  • To ensure the efficient operation of manufacturing process;
    • Through the calibration, installation, and troubleshooting of analytical probes and transmitters. 
    • Through in-plant analytical checks via titrations and wet chemistry.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Calibrate pH and ORP probes on a regularly defined basis.
  • Change probes in the field on a determined frequency and additionally as needed.
  • Record calibration data of probes to determine calibration frequency and life expectancy.
  • Perform field diagnostics of probe transmitters when required.
  • Perform cleaning of all analytical probes as required by calibration results.
  • Work with CRO to ensure analytical probes are working correctly to maintain process control.
  • Maintain the Operations lab in an organized fashion using good housekeeping practices and inventory management.
  • Perform analytical titrations for Zn and Acid upon request for process control.
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to understand and convey verbal and written work and safety related instructions and procedures given in English.
  • Intermediate Chemistry knowledge
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret PID’s
  • Willingness to work with others and be able to take direction from multiple sources.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Advanced training in instrumentation
    • Advanced training/degree in Chemistry
    • Prior experience in Instrument Maintenance and Calibration

Working conditions

  • This is a safety sensitive position requiring continuous awareness, familiarity with chemicals and an understanding of PPE requirements and the ability to adhere to the protocols required.  The job requires work outside regardless of weather conditions.  The shifts are 12 hours and overtime is required at times.  Higher level PPE may need to be worn depending on task and conditions, this may include but is not limited to acid suit, respirator, face shield and PAPR.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to walk repetitively for multiple hours during the shift.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift/move up to 40 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and as needed respirator, protective clothing and gloves.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs multiple times per shift
