Lab Technician

Richmond, CA

Pay: $20/hr

Project Description: 
The open position reports to the material characterization team of PMCU. PMCU stands for the Petroleum and Materials Characterization Unit (PMCU), which resides in the Product & Analytical Division of Energy Technology Company (ETC). PMCU is responsible for crude oil and petroleum product characterization and process problem-solving using analytical chemistry.

Job Responsibilities: 
The open position requires working primarily in non-metal elemental analysis lab of the material characterization team.

The successful candidate will prepare samples and perform standard and non-standard analytical measurements using the following analyses: Carbon/Hydrogen/Nitrogen analysis by combustion and chemiluminescence or thermal conductivity or infrared analysis.

Additional job responsibilities could include overseeing the distribution of materials that require multiple analyses and reviewing/reporting/communicating with lab customers about the analytical results. 

Required Qualifications: 
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related science field 
- Experience working in a petroleum laboratory 
- Previous working experience in an analytical testing lab. 
- Excellent manual dexterity and eyesight to carry out work with small objects, and the competence to maintain and repair lab apparatus. 
- The applicants are required to have good planning, organizing and flexibility skills.

-This is an ongoing long term contract. 
- Recent graduates with lab experience will be considered for this role.
