Microbiologist I/II position with a growing nutraceutical company in Phoenix.  This position will work Sunday - Thursday from 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, and start as soon as a well-qualified candidate is identified. The Microbiologist I conducts testing on raw materials, in-process materials and finished products. Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

-Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.

-Perform testing using agar plates and 3M Petrifilm.

-Conduct Out of Specification (OOS) investigations.

-Initiate and/or review new test methods and test method revisions.

-Assist in troubleshooting issues that arise during analysis.

-Conduct and/or review all analysis and documentation using cGMP and FDA guidelines.

-Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and standardized solutions.

-Assist in method development work, and new product Development.

-Wear personal protective equipment such as (lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, etc.) as needed to perform tasks.

-Know, follow and perform all required safety measures per company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and OSHA regulation, as required.

-Complete review of analytical raw data.

-Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors

-Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.

-All other duties as assigned.

 MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

-Clean and put away glassware.

-Develop and/or review Standard Operation Procedures, Analytical Method Worksheets, Product and Material Specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

-Able to read, write and understand English to follow instructions and safety regulations.

-Microbiology and other science proficiency skills.

-Mathematical skills, complex problem solving skills.

-Organizational skills, extreme attention to detail and accuracy.

-Effective written and verbal communication skills.

-Proficiency with PC Computers and Microsoft Office Word, Excel

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:

-BS/BA in Microbiology or related field.

-0-3 years of work experience performing microbiology methods in a regulated industry preferred (i.e. Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or Food).
