Technical Support Specialist

(Immunology, Automated Instrumentation, Troubleshooting)

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Scientific Subject matter expert (SME) who will with technical customers in address matters concerning laboratory equipment, scientific / medical devices diagnostic tools or diagnostic kits.  the Medical Device Specialist will apply knowledge of automated instrumentation, ELISA, and laboratory testing equipment to support clients.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of instrumentation, products and techniques.
  • Deliver first level phone support to end-users from the home office.
  • Interact with customers to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about instrumentation and services.
  • Gather customer’s information and determine the issue by evaluating and analyzing the symptoms.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues within timely manner.   
  • Identify and escalate priority issues to Complaint Department.
  • Accurately process and record call transactions using a computer and designated tracking software.
  • Open communication with multiple departments when needed.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors (BS) in Life Sciences, Biology, Biomedical Engineering and / or technical discipline, with emphasis in instrumentation, computers.
  • 1-2 + years’ experience as a Lab Technician, or Biologist with bench knowledge of ELISA, IFA, diagnostic kits, medical devices, and basic lab equipment maintenance. Knowledge of equipment maintenance, Field Services functions, Lab Med Tech (MT) , or related field desires but not required.
  • Technically proficient in running  In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD)  and an understanding the basis for these assays 
  • Well-organized, able to function independently, with a minimum of supervision
  • Client-facing skills, Customer-orientation and strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, demeanor and a can-do attitude
  • Strong computer skills (MicroSoft MS Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
  • Comfortable working in various areas of the laboratory and with customers.
