Job Description

Apex Life Sciences is recruiting for a Cement Formulation Chemist with a minimum of 10 years in an R&D role with inorganic products.

Job Overview

This position involves a prominent role in R&D, bench formulation and evaluation. The incumbent will also provide analysis into product failure and assist with technical service issues both on and off-site. An important role will be to share in the leadership of research operations and grow into additional roles within departmental succession.


  • Design/development of new inorganic and composite products, including bench work.
  • Project management and a reporting role in Research Priority Committee.
  • Root cause analysis and project-based technical service to customers.
  • Engage in project management within the Research Group, providing supervisory guidance where appropriate.
  • Consult with customers and representatives on product and application recommendations.
  • Assist with quality control.
  • Periodic assistance with technical service in the field.

Required skills:

  • Minimum BS in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Ceramics. Masters preferred. Not interested in PhD candidates.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a research & development setting.
  • Broad experience with ceramic science and materials chemistry.
  • Strong understanding of inorganic chemistry and functional knowledge of organic materials.
  • Working understanding of laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to design material enhancements to cements and coatings.
  • Strong mathematical and communication skills.N
  • ACE certification a plus
  • SSPC certification a plus
