Job Overview:

  This will include interfacing with multiple computer systems to locate and process orders, generate shipping papers, and conduct truck inspections prior to and after loading.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-arrival trailer inspections for all shipments.  Inspect the inside of each compartment to make sure the compartments are clean, dry and odor free.  Complete vacuum checks on internal and external outlet valves and complete food grade inspections as necessary.
  • Effectively use Oiltanking’s OSCAR inventory system for processing of all product transfers / shipments.
  • Effectively use Dow Chemical and Huntsman SAP programs to process truck shipments.  Input shipping data into process control computers.  Generate Bill of Lading (BOL), Certificate of Analysis (COA), and Packing lists for each shipment.
  • Generate Border Crossing documents (BDC) for shipments to Canada.
  • Complete all shipping paper fax requests as specified in the special instructions.
  • Monitor all shipping special instructions for accuracy and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate Customer Service Center Representative.
  • Monitor open orders and communicate to plant scheduler non-compliance of scheduled shipments.
  • Verify seals numbers on top and bottom of trailer for all food grade and BASF shipments (as needed) to insure accuracy with shipping papers.
  • Conduct tank truck post shipment inspections (placarding, trailer number, leaks/spills, etc).
  • Maintain adequate inventory of TTC shipping document supplies; product tags, envelopes, seals, BOL forms, sample bottles, etc.

Overall skills and requirements

  • Must have valid driver's license and adequate transportation.
  • Good interpersonal skills are mandatory for this job.  Interacts with customers, carriers, operations technicians, engineers, truck drivers, and supervision to provide and receive information on a daily basis.  Needs to communicate effectively to assure that the work processes are competed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Professional approach to phone calls and interface with customers, carriers, and local businesses.
  • Accuracy and thoroughness are critical to this role.

Schedule:

  • Available to work normal schedule of 6:00 AM- 2:30 PM or 12:00 PM to 20:30 PM Monday through Friday.  Schedule will rotate between the two shifts at a defined frequency.

Physical Requirements:

  • Truck Traffic responsibilities will primarily involve office work at a computer terminal and telephone.  This job will also require operator to climb stairs to access the top of the trailers.

Working Environment:

  • Position requires some outdoor work during inclement weather.

Computer Skills:

  • Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, etc). 
  • In addition, must have ability and willingness to learn other job specific computer systems including: OSCAR, MicroVAX, Dow’s SAP system, Time Slot Booking, and others.

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or Associated Degree or equivalent
