Our client is a leading U.S. producer of specialty zinc and zinc-based products and a leading recycler of electric arc furnace dust.  We are currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager.

Analytical Laboratory Manager

• Verify the accuracy of analytical results 
• Monitor the performance and accuracy of sample preparation and analysis procedures; revise or replace as needed 
• Manage workload and set priorities to meet critical product quality needs first, and others, as required by agreement with Company management 
• Maintain required laboratory certifications and correct deficiencies immediately 
• Keep abreast of new developments in analytical techniques, equipment, regulatory requirements, etc. and recommend, introduce as required 
• Develop and maintain the Department budget 
• Maintain good communications and excellent working relationships with operations management, technical support groups, sales, and Senior Management 
• Recruit, interview, ad recommend hiring of new analyst and chemists 
• Must be able to lead a large team of laboratory personnel and develop and evaluate performance of department employees 


• BS Chemistry with 10 years supervisory experience in manufacturing analytical laboratory 
• Inorganic Chemistry 
• Analytical Chemistry Procedures 
• Sample Preparation Procedures 
• Quality Systems and Control Procedures 
• Physical Properties Determination Procedures 
• Company Quality Specifications and Procedures 
• Basic Understanding of Company Flowsheets and Processes 
• Basic Environmental and OSHA Regulations 
• Operation and Maintenance of Analytical Services Equipment 
• Statistics 
• Database Structure, LIMS System Operations 
• Skills: 
• Laboratory Management & Supervision with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills 
• Basic Mechanical and Electrical Troubleshooting for Equipment 
• PC Skills - Spreadsheets, Databases, etc. 
• Written and Oral Communications
