Position: Laboratory Technician

Location: Ft. Wayne, IN.

Hours: 2nd shift (3:30pm – 2am) Monday – Thursday

*3 day weekend every week*

SUMMARY:

Apex Life Sciences is searching for a Lab Technician for a Permanent or Direct Hire opportunity. This position is a full time 2nd shift opportunity to work with a well-known company in the Ft. DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for the analytical testing that supports a cGMP manufacturing environment. Including: testing of products/components, maintaining/calibrating equipment, and supporting stability program in accordance with global cGMP regulations for Food and Beverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Run, maintain and calibrate analytical equipment which includes: FTIR, HPLC, LCMS, pH meters, refractometers, balances, and other equipment.

• Learn and implement cGMP requirements in the laboratory using specific regulations and available industry guidance.

• Physical, qualitative, and quantitative Chemical and Nutritional examinations including, but not limited to, testing, moisture, solids, vitamins, amino acids and other related physical and chemical characteristics.

• Responsible for accurate and efficient chemical analysis of raw materials, ingredients and finished products and all chemistry tests in accordance with company policies, procedures and GMPs.

• Compiles and organizes analytical documentation for release of finished product and reviews for completeness and accuracy for coordinating product release on a timely basis while providing managerial notification of all results not within specification.

• Accurately records, reviews and verifies results using Good Documentation Practices.

• Identify analytical trends in raw materials, ingredients and finished products; locating contamination points and recommending , establishing and implementing corrective action.

• Identifies and resolves technical issues through root cause analysis investigations and special testing.

EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in a science related field with analytical chemistry courses completed and chemistry laboratory skills acquired.

EXPERIENCE:

0-2 years of experience in an analytical laboratory is preferred. Experience/expertise with HPLC instruments is a plus. Experience with analytical method development as well as experience in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA Regulated or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) environment is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.

JOB DEMANDS:

• Knowledgeable and proficient on a computer, including Microsoft Office preferred.

• Possess the ability to creatively solve problems.

• Ability to comply with all safety and department regulations.

• Extreme attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
