Lab Technician

Elk River, MN

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00a - 4:30pm

Duration: 6 months

Position Overview

  • Responsible for receiving and processing a large number of samples, and performing a variety of basic chemical and physical analyses.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Daily processing of lab samples – to include but not limited to: sorting, labeling, drying, and weighing samples, grinding and NIR scanning for extended periods of time, data analysis and data entry into LIMS database.
  • Daily In Vitro Continuous Culture support - including but not limited to: sample and reagent preparation, cleaning of lab materials and maintenance of the working area.
  • Develops proficiency in multiple basic analysis, and demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems and meet deadlines without continual supervision.
  • Supports the data quality program by evaluating results according to specified standards
  • Readily understands training for new analytical techniques and ability to apply training to role
  • Demonstrates awareness of team goals and objectives
  • Promotes a safe work environment through proactive safety coaching and demonstrates trend toward becoming a safety champion
  • Without direct supervision, performs basic chemical and physical analysis on multiple materials for the support of research, development, and production activities

Required Experience:   

  • At least two years of relevant experience             
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate about basic analysis Required
  • Moderate computer skills            
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively set daily priorities     
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality   
  • Strong desire to work in a team approach            
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures

Education:         

  • High school education or equivalent       
  • Preferred: Four year college degree in a science focused discipline

  • Various ingredient samples that may contain potential allergens are handled routinely in this facility.
  • Including but not limited to milk, peanuts, eggs, tree nuts, soy, gluten, fish, and shellfish.
