The primary responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to:
Conducting gas and vapor testing and characterization of cartridges and filters used in respiratory safety products.

• Developing service life determinations (cyclohexane, SO2, Cl2, HCHO, NH3, H2S)

• Running testing to improve the quality, performance or cost of existing products.

• Managing testing requests and work with lab personnel to prioritize and execute testing needs.

• Maintaining and calibrating gas and vapor and analytical test equipment.

• Preparing cartridge and filter samples.

• Conducting equipment preventive maintenance practices.

• Creating data packages to summarize testing results.

• Creating or modifying test methods in support of testing or project activities.

• Assisting in the installation of new testing equipment

• Submitting properly labeled chemical waste for removal.

• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university

• Minimum of one (1) year laboratory testing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry from an accredited university
Three (3) years laboratory testing experience using analytical testing techniques

• Expertise with Microsoft office software and data analysis packages

• Calibration and preventative maintenance background

• Experience with carbon or sorbent chemistry or gas/vapor chemical testing

• Demonstrated use of design of experiments and other statistical methods or tools

• Proven ability to plan, prioritize and follow through on multiple programs in a timely manner

• Strong communicator with the ability to contribute and work with a cross-functional team

The person shall possess the following skills:
Able to perform detailed laboratory work. Attention to detail and able to perform meticulous tasks related to testing and calibrations. Good record keeping. Ability to work under time constrains and deadlines. Ability to cope with shifting priorities in a daily basis. Good mechanical skills. Being comfortable in working with potentially dangerous chemicals, including liquids and gases. Flexibility to adjust work schedule to accommodate testing needs.
