Laboratory Assistant

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists with retrieval and set up of samples for analysis. Receives samples from Sample Management and segregate and distribute to the lab as per standard operating procedure 
  • Monitor SL Scan/pending list and search for lost samples.  
  • Troubleshoot issues with Sample Management when required. Member of the Lost sample Team.
  • Builds and places specimens into loads (batches) for the technical staff. Covers all areas of the lab (where trained) as needed.
  • Coordinates the receiving and expediting of specimens and reagents from the Global Laboratories.  Monitors, receives and Outsources shipments and ensures that all samples are tracked and accounted for. 
  • Troubleshoot extra samples and notify shipping facility of any discrepancies.
  • Assists with the preparation of samples for testing in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Retrieve/return samples from long-term storage to laboratory for testing upon request and Collate and transfer samples for long term storage
  • Manages specimen storage rotation and disposal as well as the Relabeling, Uncapping, and  Recapping of samples
  • Handles Client Service queries regarding Add-On Testing and identifies the proper sample.
  • Assist with Inventory logs and counts.
  • Assists with department filing and archiving.

  • Minimum of one year’s relevant laboratory experience.
  • EU/APAC- prior relevant experience
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in English both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with good organization skills and good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in conformance with standard operating procedure and conditions with a systematic approach to tasks committed to seeing things through to completion
  • To be able to prepare reagents accurately and consistently.
  • Action oriented demonstrating the ability to handle large work load demands and to trouble shoot issues timely when required.
  • Customer Focused –providing timely, confident, reliable and friendly service to all our internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep accurate, legible records and recognize the need to handle these records and all other information in line with GCP/GLP/GDP.
  • Good communication skills that allow for confident interaction with all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrates a high level of personal integrity and ethical behavior with a responsible and mature approach to work duties.
