Summary:

Apex Life Science is looking for an Instrumentation and Electrical Lead for our pharmaceutical company in Boulder, CO. This position provides leadership for production, production development and administrative areas by identifying, planning, coordinating performance and the execution of instrumentation and electrical installations and maintenance activities, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This individual is highly knowledgeable in electrical systems, instrumentation, control and their associated standards. This is a direct hire opportunity. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains strong, transparent and effective day to day working relationships between manufacturing, R&D, internal support, regulatory groups and our clients customers related to assigned duties.
  • Develops, reviews, and approves calibration procedures and instrument designs.  Manages certification of calibration equipment and reference standards.
  • Identify, prioritize, and schedule the performance of work tasks, and to plan work identified in the schedule to meet production needs, capital project schedules, and equipment maintenance / calibration schedules.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians and others providing electrical/instrumentation support.  Develops Technicians in providing a high level of quality in work performed, targeting Right First Time.
  • Evaluate and identify methods to achieve reliability of electrical and instrumentation installations by ensuring robust installation standards, techniques and qualification methods, use of compliant systems and procedures, and adequate designs.
  • Self-directing and follows up on deficiencies identified from operational issues. Identifies gaps in Plant/facility repairs and acts as an active team member in identifying appropriate solutions.
  • Clearly communicate issues and problems to venders and others. Offer reliable solutions while considering code and safety concerns.
  • Leads programs to plan, execute, review and improve instrumentation and electrical maintenance reliability activities.  Participates in the resolution of reliability related operational, process, equipment and maintenance problems to prevent operational upsets.
  • Provides input to annual operating budget and communicates issues with adherence within budget targets.
  • Implements and maintains adherence to all company policies concerning environmental, health, safety, quality and human resources.
  • Coordinate contractor activities and service payments.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 10 years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Prior lead experience a must. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to understand the basic physical properties of temperature, pressure and flow.
  • The ability to read and understand technical manuals for operation, troubleshooting, configuration and calibration of equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of calibrating pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters.
  • Familiarity with motor control schematics, electrical one-lines, and P & ID’s.
  • Good communication, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to follow the National Electrical Code.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
