Immunohistochemistry Associate (Histology, Assay Development, Pharma)

Job Scope & Purpose:

Our Cambridge based client focused on stem cell therapeutics is seeking a talented researcher to join its growing Histology team. The ideal candidate will have outstanding skills in histology and method development of IHC/IF Assays. Under the supervision of senior scientists, he/she will be responsible for performing experiments using assays in development along with standard operating protocols. Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of histology including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and staining
  • Develop and troubleshoot IHC and immunofluorescence assays
  • Image tissue samples and cell pellets using BF and fluorescence microscopy
  • Assist senior scientists with assay tech transfer to collaborators and CROs
  • Organize, compile results and assist senior scientists for sharing data to senior management
  • Analyze images using common software packages (i.e. Definiens, Halo etc.)
  • Order and stock laboratory with reagents and histology consumables
  • Keep careful records in electronic lab notebooks

Primary Job Requirements:

  • MS in Biological Sciences, or BSc with 5 years’ relevant research experience
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of histology and enthusiasm performing this work
  • Demonstrated capability in troubleshooting and analyzing IHC/IF experiments
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and manage multiple studies
  • Highly self-motivated, team player, with attention to detail
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Prior industry experience in histology and assay development is a strong plus
  • A strong applicant will also have experience with sectioning medical devices/resin material
