Our client is seeking an experienced formulation chemist for the Industrial Lubricants team with the responsibility for supporting our clients business growth through development of formulations. The position has a special emphasis on creating value for our customers through the development of extensive application and formulation know how using our clients additives.


  • Develop an understanding of the application benefits of our clients products versus competitive products in formulation, and generate data to support value proposition communication to customers.
  • Plan and perform bench top formulation, application, and compatibility studies. Present results to internal and external customers in support of business growth objectives.
  • Keep abreast of customer needs, patent literature, market trends and drivers, to anticipate and test new applications and formulations for our client's products.
  • Translate customer needs into product innovation from formulations.
  • Actively serve as technical support for marketing, sales, and external customers.
  • Foster and maintain relationships to external customers and the market through select customer visits with sales and business line management personnel. This includes participation in trade organizations and conferences.


A team oriented, highly motivated self-starter with minimum 5-8 years formulation experience in the metal working market.

  • Formulation experience with metal forming and metal removal. Experience within related applications, such as hydraulics, quenching, metal cleaning, rolling oils and emulsions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the industry and key technologies, along with the ability to develop robust formulations.
  • Desire to improve and solve customer formulation objectives, using strong listening, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in planning and administering application tests for physical evaluations of formulation stability and compatibility of metalworking formulations.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness, ability to successfully manage multiple projects with varying timelines and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable in a hands-on working environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education and Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent experience) in chemistry or related scientific field
  • Travel will be in the range of 10%. Some international travel may be required
