Facilities Maintenance Manager

Our growing institute is currently in need of a responsible individual to fill the position of Facilities Maintenance Manager. The Facilities Maintenance Manager has basic technical skills as well as vendor management experience, and will work hand-in-hand with the Building Engineer to maintain all dedicated equipment and the day-to-day requests of the tenant. In addition, they will supervise all vendors while onsite, and supervise projects as requested.The successful candidate will oversee the company’s facility operations, manage janitorial duties, and assist in many aspects of laboratory maintenance and safety, all while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead implementation of new building projects; coordinate & supervise multiple concurrent construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols
  • Own all lab services (deliveries of CO2, LN2, dry ice, lab coats, & sequencing services)
  • Equipment site prep for installation
  • Relocation of heavy lab equipment
  • Issue and track key fobs, keys (primary and spares) and physical security (with Ops Mgr)
  • Oversee and supervise maintenance and janitorial of floors (approx 45,000 sqft)
  • Coordinate maintenance of all systems (fire extinguishers, etc)
  • Seismic bracing new equipment
  • Coordinate all aspects of EH&S
    • Lab safety & completion of training
    • BUA
    • Waste removal contracts
    • Emergency Action Plan
  • Able to interface with landlords and lessors at each site
  • Tasks as needed at each site
  • Other duties as assigned by COO and Operations Manager


  • 3+ years’ experience in facilities management position with bio lab experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related industry: Engineering, Real Estate, Facilities Management, Project Management
  • Able to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
