Job Description


  • Support the maintenance and restoration of launch facilities
  • Provide management of all facility maintenance activities, consisting of periodic maintenance and repair of launch facility and support building architectural, HVAC, electrical, civil, structural and mechanical systems, including supporting facility corrosion control activities


  • Coordinate the procurement of facility services, equipment, and furniture and perform a variety of engineering tasks in support of mechanical, electrical and structural facility maintenance.
  • Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities.
  • Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility.
  • Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
  • Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
  • Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
  • Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. 
  • Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult engineering/scientific problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects.
  • Failure to achieve expected results would typically result in serious project delays.
  • Works with minimal direction. Independently determines and develops approaches to problems.
  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Receives guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.


  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and 4 -8 years of experience 
  • Experience with facilities engineering and plant operations.
  • Must have excellent communication, writing, and oral skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of team members including company represented personnel, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, logic diagrams, and technical manuals. 
  • Basic experience with AutoCAD, create/revise engineering drawings as required.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
