Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Job Description

Working with appropriate supervision and direction, provide technical support in the prototyping, validation and production scale activities for of new products. Support product line transfer from outside facilities to internal manufacturing in Danvers. Document and train for equipment, processes, material and operator specifications for manufacturing. Support engineers in process and tooling development, data acquisition and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Plastics Processing and Plastics machinery maintenance.
  • Lead, Coordinate and perform experiments, monitor experiments, collect data, maintain laboratory notebook, report data and organize/archive data.
  • Lead, coordinate and perform simple IQ, PC, OQ and PQ activities in accordance with Corporate, Divisional and Site Process Validation procedures and policies.
  • Support Advanced Manufacturing Engineers in transferring manufacturing from development to production.
  • Perform routine process analysis to verify accuracy and completeness of established process
  • Conduct product and process testing to prescribed Test Plans and Protocols.
  • Lead or coordinate product builds for development and testing. Build product for development and testing
  • Train production operators in new processes.
  • Contact outside vendors for purchasing of materials, components, fixturing, services, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduated from high school, or passed GED/HISET
  • Progressive technical certifications
  • 2+ years of technical experience in Manufacturing
  • General metrology skills (eg., experience with machinist microscopes, calipers, ROI, and weight scales)
  • Knowledge of Plastics Processing (extrusion- wire and cable, braided liner, free tube etc.) and Plastics machinery (e.g Extruders- American Kunhe, Davis Standard etc., Injection molding machines- Milacron, Arburg etc.) maintenance
  • Experience with requirements of electrical LOTO, chemical handling and hazardous waste guidelines

PREFERENCES

  • Knowledge of polymer or plastics extrusion (e.g. catheter, wire and cable, pipe, free tube extrusion, fiber etc)
  • Knowledge of braiding (Steeger, Wardwell)
  • Good electrical/ mechanical problem solving skills
  • Ability to read, and redline engineering documentation
  • Experimental techniques: Maintaining a Lab Notebook, Statistics knowledge
  • Experience with GMP requirements and medical/ pharmaceutical/ regulated (defense/aerospace/ automotive) industry requirements
  • PLC programming
  • Able to define PM procedures and review/maintain spare parts for the equipment
  • General metrology skills (e.g., experience with machinist microscopes, calipers, ROI, and weight scales)
  • 5S and Lean Manufacturing Skills
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Good mechanical/ electrical problem solving skills
  • Clear understanding of EHS requirements.
  • Experience with all requirements of electrical LOTO, chemical handling and hazardous waste guidelines
  • Knowledge of the English and Metric measuring systems with the ability to perform mathematical conversions to each
  • Ability to provide concentrated visual and mental attention
  • Ability to work overtime as required  
  • Ability to work well on teams
  • Ability to physically move or assist in moving equipment
